- hey Gillian, yeah I done the cam on Dark Places. At the moment I'm spending a lot of time on my new one so wouldn't be able to physically help out but happy to give any advice. I'd say 90% of the shots in the movie were done on a tripod so that when the shower scene came along the movement helped the drama. To get the low depth of field effects (blurry background etc) I used a lense convertor but you can get a similar effect by taking your camera way back and zooming in whilst opening the aperture (or depending on the cam, increasing the exposure). If you want someone to walk into focus then film where they're going to be and focus tight on them and then make sure they have a mark on the ground to walk to.
