Media Muppet

Been really busy at Uni this past week. Looking to get a newsletter up this weekend and make some cool updates to the site. In the meantime, here's some stuff nicked from www.mandy.com. The third and final one of these posts seems a bit dodgy to me. Would appreciate if someone had any pointers on whether such a venture would be worth anyone's time; just seems to me like the business would be making money off your own hard work, whilst you make next to nothing. Anyway, have a good one.

Vacancy: Beginner Web Video Producers
Employer: Howcast.com
Location: Scotland-wide [view map]
Duration: Ongoing, starts Immediately
Payment is on a lo/no/deferred basis. [note on unpaid jobs]

Up-and-coming filmmakers, web video producers, film students and recent grads -- shoot and edit how-to shorts for Howcast.com. (Please note, this is an opportunity for experience and exposure for aspiring filmmakers, not a call for established filmmakers seeking freelance rates.)

Get creative and make some extra money. Build your reel while you experiment with new production techniques for a new media client. See your videos distributed and promoted across the web (on AOL, Yahoo!, Break, Hulu and others) and beyond (to iPhone, iTunes, TiVo, and others).

* Topics range from 'How To Open a Bottle of Wine' to 'How To Deal with Being Shy'
* New topics are added every week
* Shoot on your own schedule
* Every accepted video receives a stipend and revenue sharing, and accepted directors go on to produce multiple Howcast spots

Howcast provides a short script, graphics, pre-recorded voice-over and audio tracks from our growing music library. You provide the vision and basic requirements: 3-chip camera or better, video editing software. (Tripod and lights also helpful.)
